Dr Chris Allan

Dr Chris Allan attained his primary medical degree at the University of Queensland and his Fellowship in General Surgery with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He completed two additional years of subspecialty training in Breast and Endocrine Surgery at the Mater Adult Hospital in Brisbane followed by Melanoma and Soft Tissue Sarcoma Surgery at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. He attained a Master of Philosophy research degree in breast cancer vaccine development through the University of Queensland.
Dr Allan works as a Consultant Surgeon based privately in Fourth Floor Surgery at the Mater Private Clinic and also consults at the Mater Private Breast Cancer Centre. He is credentialed to admit and operate at the Mater Private Hospital. In addition, he has public surgical appointments as a Senior Visiting Specialist at the Mater Hospital Brisbane and a Visiting Medical Officer appointment at the Princess Alexandra Hospital Melanoma Unit.
Dr Allan holds a Senior Lecturer position with the University of Queensland. He is heavily committed as a teaching academic surgeon and is both the Co-ordinator of the Year 3 Surgery rotation in the Faculty of Medicine and a co-ordinator of the Queensland Core Course in General Surgery education programme for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Dr Allan’s subspecialty expertise in Surgical Oncology includes melanoma and other skin cancers, breast cancer, soft tissue sarcoma of the limbs, abdominal wall and retroperitoneum and thyroid cancer. He works closely with related medical and radiation oncologists in providing multidisciplinary patient care. His General Surgical interests include hernia, gallstones, acute abdominal emergencies, spleen, adrenal and lymph node pathology.
